Newton Running Shoes

As a runner, nothing is more important to us than a good pair of running shoes. We’ve all been through our fair number of different brands of running shoes, but one that is definitely worth trying out is Newton’s.

Sadly, not all running stores carry this brand, so you might need to do a search to see what stores near you carry them or test them out at an upcoming race expo. They are also available for online purchase, but it is always recommended to try running shoes out in a store before you use them.

The concept behind the creation of the Newton brand was to have a shoe that would promote fore-foot running. If you are a heel striker when you run, you have a greater risk of injury and it adds more shock to your body.

The key to good running form is to land on the mid-front part of your foot right below your center of gravity. The Newton running shoes have treads on the front part of the foot that helps to identify where on the foot we should be landing and it also adds some absorption.

Newton Running shoes are minimalistic, nearly level to the ground and are the best shoe on the market for the chi-running technique. Newton Running shoes allow you to run naturally in an unnatural world!

Another benefit of the Newton shoes is how light-weight they are when compared with other popular running shoes.

The one piece of advice that is offered about changing over to a pair of Newton’s is to transition slowly. As the shoes encourage you to run in a way that might be slightly different than you are used to, it is wise to first use them for a short distance at first.

The other enjoyable part of the Newton shoes is that they are easily identifiable with their crazy, bold colors. Their shoes are often accented in neon green or pink or orange colors that make them hard to miss in a crowd of feet. If you have the opportunity, test out a pair of the Newton’s and see if they are the right shoe for you!

  1. Gel cushioning is one trademark technology of Asics, it is their flagship technology in their famous Gel Kayano series. Cushioning could be found in the heel part and in the forefoot part to be able to be sure that the entire foot would be protected from any impact. Unlike any other technologies for cushioning, the gel cushioning would be soft and yet not cushy so that the control would still be maintained.

  2. Do you guys run in Newtons? Moving around from NB 730s to Brooks Pure Flow & still looking.

    • Yes, we run in Newtons….. I also run in Saucony as I like to run in 2 different pairs so my feet and body don’t get used to the same exact shoe every run. It can help to avoid injury if you switch up your shoes during the week and run in different pairs!
